ST. PAUL, Minnesota. — Two workers died Friday afternoon when a construction trench collapsed. in St. Paul. hours after fatal incident, the crews are still working at night to recover one of body.
St. Paul’s Fire Department says The collapse happened around 3:00 p.m. in construction zone on block 700 of Mount Creve Boulevard, near the Mississippi River. in Highland Park area.
Bye fire crews quickly responded to the scene, it was too late to secure the trench and save the workers who were buried underground.
“We feel terrible for victims when anything like it happens,” Assistant Fire Chief Matt Simpson said. – We train for it’s every single day… Unfortunately, there was no time on our side to change that today.”
Laens-Saint-Fleur watched dozens of first- defendants flooded street next to him home. He and the others were heartbroken for workers and their families.
“I just very, very sad that this happened,” he said. – My heart is really out topics people.”
Fire officials say brigades will work all night until second body was restored. Names of two workers have not yet been released.
