Grand Theft Auto VI is set to deliver the most graphic experience in the franchise’s history, according to newly surfaced details from the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) ratings board. A detailed content description briefly appeared on the official PEGI website on October 2, 2026, confirming that the upcoming title has earned an 18 rating due to “detailed decapitation,” explicit drug use, and enhanced sexual interactivity.
While the PEGI listing was removed shortly after being discovered, the descriptions provided a deep look into the mechanics involving protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Most notably, the listing confirms that players can carry cocaine in their inventory and snort it directly from their hand at any time, a significant step up in interactivity for the series’ portrayal of controlled substances.

Unprecedented Violence and Gore
Rockstar Games appears to be pushing technical boundaries with the game’s gore system. The PEGI description specifically mentions “detailed decapitation and dismemberment” resulting from the use of certain high-caliber weapons or environmental hazards. This level of anatomical damage suggests a significant evolution from the more static injury models seen in previous entries.
However, this level of detail is reportedly restricted to human characters. While the game features over 170 animal species—including alligators, manatees, and various legendary creatures—violence against domestic and wild animals will not produce the same level of injury detail as violence against humans. This distinction aligns with Rockstar’s historical approach to balancing realism with ethical boundaries regarding animal welfare in gaming.
Interactive Mature Themes
Beyond combat and narcotics, the PEGI rating confirms new details regarding sexual content. The game reportedly includes “scenes of sexual fetishes” and allows for a higher level of interactivity in certain environments. Specifically, players will have the option to touch dancers’ breasts and buttocks during private dance sequences, expanding on the foundation laid by the strip club mechanics in Grand Theft Auto V.

The rating also clarifies the nature of the game’s economy. Mentions of “in-game purchases” are currently understood to refer to the “Ultimate Edition” upgrade and pre-order bonuses, such as the “Vintage Vice City Pack,” rather than standard microtransactions within the single-player experience. The Ultimate Edition is projected to carry a $99.99 price point.
Setting the Stage for November
These graphic details emerge as Rockstar concludes a massive marketing push that recently highlighted the game’s technical “re-engineering.” The state of Leonida will feature a dynamic weather system capable of producing realistic hurricanes, which can directly affect gameplay and the environment. This weather tech works alongside a densely populated ecosystem of wildlife, providing a living backdrop for Jason and Lucia’s story.
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. The initial launch will focus on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. While a PC version is expected, current projections suggest a later release window, likely moving into 2027 or 2028. As of now, the Australian Classification Board has not finalized its review, though rumors of a potential “X 18+” rating in that region continue to circulate among local retailers.
