Netflix has officially confirmed the release of its latest high-stakes K-drama thriller, Dead-End Job, which is scheduled to premiere on October 30, 2026. The 8-episode series, which carries the literal Korean title translation “The Sweetest Part-Time Job,” is positioned as a major holiday launch for the streaming platform, arriving just in time for Halloween weekend.
The series follows the story of Hyuk-jun, played by Lee Jae-wook, a man struggling with mounting debt. His life takes a dark turn when he encounters the Spyder Human Resource Center, a mysterious employment agency that offers wages 50 times higher than the national average. As Hyuk-jun accepts the position, he quickly discovers the lucrative pay comes with life-threatening penalties and moral compromises.

Cast and Production Origins
The series features a high-profile cast beyond Lee Jae-wook. Go Min-si joins the cast as an investigator looking into the agency’s operations, while Kim Min-ha portrays the protagonist’s sister.
Directional duties for the series are shared between Kim Da-min and Han Jun-hee. Before its global streaming debut, Dead-End Job will have an early premiere at the 31st Busan International Film Festival on October 7, 2026. The festival’s “On Screen” section will showcase the first four episodes, offering an early look at the series’ tone and pacing.
Expanding the Dystopian Catalog
The release of Dead-End Job is part of a broader push into the dystopian and high-stakes survival genre that has seen significant growth on the platform. This strategy continues into the winter season with the arrival of Quiztopia, a Japanese dystopian series scheduled for December 17, 2026.
Based on the manga Kokumin Kuizu, Quiztopia operates on similar thematic ground, focusing on a society where citizens participate in a lethal game show to have their greatest wishes granted. By spacing these releases between October and December, the streamer appears to be maintaining a steady pipeline of “deadly game” content to follow the template established by previous international hits.
The official trailer and poster for Dead-End Job, recently released by the studio, confirmed the October 30 premiere, ensuring the mystery-horror series anchors the platform’s seasonal lineup.
