ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Sunday expressed serious concern over increase in incidents of Forest fires in various parts of country.
The President said that these fire incidents caused huge financial a loss to the nation as it deprived the actors of their livelihood, put their lives and property of residents at the top risk, destroyed local fauna and flora, in addition, exacerbated the negative consequences of changing of the climate.
He advised the authorities concerned reorient on warning of strategy for forest fires by strengthening coordination among themselves, the press service of the presidential secretariat said. in Press release.
The president also called for of investments in fire suppression and prevention mechanisms that implement of existing fire management practices by improving the collection and analysis of forest fire data and strengthening of coordination and readiness of stakeholders.
The President remarked that most of forest fire incidents could have been prevented because 85 percent we caused when the fires and burning debris were left unattended.

He said these incidents could be prevented by taking simple precautions, including a message of leaving fires unattended to the authorities and extinguishing fire pits and fires when done.
Also, lit cigarettes should not to be thrown out of in moving vehicles while care must be taken when using flammable liquids or fireworks, he advised.
The President also said that, unfortunately, the forest fire disturbed flora and fauna, wild animals destroyed, destroyed habitat of birds and hurt fertility of the soil that interfered growth and composition of vegetation, in addition to increasing the level of carbon dioxide in atmosphere, as a result in emission of greenhouse gases.
