FM Bilawal says with OIC Secretary General to discuss Islamophobic actions in India
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers had a telephone conversation with OIC Secretary General Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, on Sunday. Conversation focused on in series of Islamophobic actions of the ruling dispensation in India, in especially derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) made for two senior officials of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
The Minister for Foreign Affairs remarked that disparaging remarks made high-ranking officials of the BJP deeply hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world. He noted that the BJP’s attempt to provide clarifications, as well as belated and superficial “disciplinary” measures against in responsible people could not relieve the pain and suffering that they experienced. caused Muslim world.
He strongly condemned the arbitrary treatment by the Indian authorities. of peaceful protests after Friday prayers over derogatory remarks that were latest manifestation of indian government ongoing persecution of Muslims.
The Foreign Minister urged the OIC and its Member States step up their efforts for protection of life, dignity, property, culture, heritage and religious freedom of Indian Muslims. He also called on the Organization to immediately take into account of aggravating situation of Islamophobia in India.
The Secretary General of the OIC expressed deep concern over offensive remarks as well as endless plight of Indian Muslims. OIC was sensitive to the growing trend of Islamophobia and need take collective action to combat It.
Both sides recalled resolutions and statements of UN and OIC on Islamophobia, and decided remain in contact to explore the possibilities of fight against islamophobia in India and the Alleviation of Suffering of Indian Muslims.
