Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is calling for warning steps as PMD predicts heavy rain

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday instructed the authorities to take precautions to avoid any unfavorable situation as the Met Office predicts heavy rains at the end of June.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that “above average rainfall” is expected in the country for the coming rainy season. It also states that pre-monsoon rains are likely to start in in last a week of June.

‘Comprehensive strategy’

Prime Minister Shahbaz instructed the authorities to develop a comprehensive strategy in cooperation with provinces considering the forecast. He asked the authorities to warn the regional and district administrations about this. in in this respect.

He said all precautions should be accepted in conformity with forecast by the meteorological department, in addition to ensuring agreements in lowlands and in those regions that may be affected during the rainy season.

prime minister also asked for timely delivery of necessary equipment and other necessary steps for in protection of crops and animals in agricultural areas.

prime minister further noted that the inhabitants in affected areas should be warned and moved to safer areas.

Another steps like proper drainage, dredging of nulls and water channels and fumigation should also take it added.
