University of Karachi, NIMA to cooperate for research in maritime affairs

KARACHI: A Memorandum of The agreement was signed between the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) and the Department of University of International Relations of Karachi for bilateral cooperation in promote education and foster joint efforts in the area of research.

The ceremony took place at the University of Karachi. The documents have been duly validated with the signatures of Vice Admiral (Retd) Abdul Aleem, Director General, National Institute of Maritime Affairs (Hilal-e-Imtiaz-e-Military) and President of Dr. Naeem Ahmed of the Department of University of International Relations of Karachi. The Vice Rector, University of Karachi Dr. Nasira Khatoon also he took the opportunity and appreciated that initiative and congratulated both institutes.

The proposal of the deal is to improve the research and academic collaboration between the two institutes, to promote and intensify cooperation in maritime domain. The agreement will not only improve bilateral collaboration, it will also play an important role in promote joint activities, exchange of information experts and researchers in for promotion of the areas of Mutual interest.

About on the occasion, boss of Department Dr. Naeem Ahmed said, the Department of International Relations is the oldest established Department in 1958, to study the field of geostrategic dynamics, foreign policy Indian Ocean affairs And international relations in Pakistan.

He said this is the first (MoU) of the Department with outside institute and we hope this cooperation will be of great opportunity to take advantage of it.

The Director General (NIMA), Vice Admiral (Retd) Abdul Aleem, wholeheartedly assured support from the National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) To the IR Department in research, policy analysis and other related topics.

In addition, NIMA director Karachi commodore (Retd) Ali Abbas also joined the event long with researchers team.
