At least 56 dead and 194 others were injured in a suicide explosion inside a mosque in Kocha Risaldar of Peshawar area on Friday.
Police officers said the blast occurred when the faithful gathered in the mosque for Friday prayers.
Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) spokesman Muhammad Asim confirmed the death toll, adding that most of the wounded sustained injuries in upper parts of their bodies.
He said that additional doctor personnel have been called and a red alert has been declared in hospital.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The authorities have collected prove from the site and initiated further investigation into the incident.
Senior superintendent of Police Haroon Rashid said it was apparently a suicide attack in such as two policemen, lined up at the gate of the mosque, they were also martyred.
Said that in no threat warning was previously received in about the attack.
Sharing the horrible details of The attack an eyewitness, Shayan Haider, said he was preparing to enter the mosque when a powerful explosion threw him to the street.
“I opened mine eyes and there was dust and bodies everywhere, “he said.
Another eyewitness said one person got dressed in black the clothes entered the mosque and then exploded killing the security guard.
“After that, he quickly entered the [mosque’s] main hall and it is blown up. As a result, there were bodies and injuries people lying everywhere, “he said.
“The hall was full with people, who were on the lower and upper floors. The accident took place at 12:55. The people took the wounded faithful in hospital via motorcycles as rescuers faced obstacles when arriving at the site due to congested alleys.
