Nadeem Khayal of PTI emerges victorious

HANGU: PTI Candidate Dr. Nadeem Khayal won by-election in constituency HA-33 of Hangu, according to an unofficial, preliminary results.

Preliminary results from all 210 polling stations show that Ubaid Ulla of JUI-F stood second providing 18,244 people, Said Umar of The ANP garnered 3,314 votes while the independents Atik Ahmed and Muhammad received 256 and 25 votes respectively.

The position became vacant after the death of PTI MNA Haji Khayal, after which PTI released ticket to his son Nadim Khayal, to participate in the elections.

Voting began at 8 am. with about 4,500 police officers involved in in area to prevent any unpleasant incident, and continued uninterrupted until 17:00.

A sharp fight was expected between PTI, JUI-F and ANP. for seat in the National Assembly in Hangu, but PTI reached success.

The Chief Electoral Commissioner urged voters to exercise their right to vote without any fear, saying no interference in the voting process will be tolerated and immediate action will be taken against any violation.
