Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday rejected the “suspicion” of Western nations on multibillion dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project saying the flagship Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project it was a great opportunity for regional development.
“The suspicion about CPEC and Gwadar makes no sense… We [have] to invite[d] Other countries to join also, “he said in an interview with Eric Li, president of advice board of China Institute at the Fudan University of Beijing.
Khan said the plans would do it prove not only advantageous for Pakistan and China but for all of South Asia region.
He said his top priority was lifting of 220 million people of Pakistan, adding that these projects in this regard would be help in reduction of poverty and wealth creation.
Questioned about the allegations of genocide in Xinjiang region of China leveled by the United States and Europe, Khan said the reports received from the ambassador of Pakistan in Beijing after his visit to the province was “completely different” from what was reported in the western press.
