State-of-the-art robot technology for web stores

Among a number of other forward-looking developments, the most significant innovation of this year is to serve their customers in their performance center with the same robotic technology as Amazon.

Sliding robots help

The webshippy’s 7,500-square-meter warehouse in Fót is serving the entire order service of 1,500 web stores. 100-150 thousand packages are delivered every month, the sales revenue generated by the packages delivered by the webshops amounted to more than 11 billion forints in the past one year. Behind the impressive volume are significant technological innovations. Error-free and automated order service is provided by Webshippy’s self-developed logistics software, which in 2019 won the Special Innovation Award from ITM. With the robot warehouse management system just set up, an area of 1,500 m2 has been robotised so far, where 24 robots currently move and manage a total of 250 shelves. The robots are remarkably productive, with a combined power of 8000 orders per day

35% more efficient

Accelerated by state-of-the-art goods to person picking technology and optimizes the most time-consuming workflow, product collection. With this solution, “The mountain comes to Mohamed and not Mohamed goes to the mountain,” meaning that products intended for packaging are delivered to colleagues by robots and not pickers have to collect them in the traditional way, at the cost of walking up to 30 kilometers a day.

The location and distribution of products is also regulated by self-learning artificial intelligence, as a result of which the processes are faster and more efficient than ever before. By eliminating the walking routes reserved for pickers so far, the capacity of the Webshippy fulfillment center could soon increase by as much as 20%, which is promising for all e-commerce businesses that would outsource their logistics tasks.

How robots work

The Webshippy logistics center stores products on endless rows of mobile storage panels. The robots communicate with the order management software over a wireless network, and when a new order is run, they roll without delay to the appropriate storage panel to take the goods to the operator’s workstation. The moment the stores arrive at that colleague, a “pick by light” system illuminates the shelves from which you need to remove the products. After that, all you have to do is tweak them with the barcode scanner and put them in the crates that the system also assigns to them. The process is extremely clear, accurate and optimized. Compiling and pairing orders with products of different sizes does not pose a challenge to the high-tech package aggregation system either, as Webshippy handles such needs with unique efficiency. By integrating Geek +’s robotic picking software into Webshippy’s WMS, the development team has successfully combined traditional and automated picking procedures.

Going beyond logistics, this is the future

András Perényi, CEO of Webshippy, commented on the current developments: “I know we have reached a revolutionary moment in Webshippy’s life. as a result of our work, robots are now running through crowded shelves, and perhaps we can come up with an even more breathtaking development in the near future. I believe it is not just a simple industry development, we are building the future. “

Targeting international markets

Webshippy wants to keep up with the accelerated growth of e-commerce – manufacturers, traders, logistics servers, online access logistics, knowledge, technology and markets. Nothing proves the scalability and reliability of the system better than the fact that brands such as Helia-D, Butlers, Retro, Ilcsi Natural Cosmetics, Creative Game or Fressnapf have entrusted Webshippy with the management of their stocks. And the first market customer for the Webshippy software license, which became available this year, became Praktiker, which will be able to implement the high-quality and efficient order service that the Webshippy system enables in its own warehouse. The high degree of automation achieved through robotics further increases service efficiency, aids designability, and lays the foundation for further growth of Webshippy. The owners plan to open in Poland in 2022 and expand in 5 more countries over the next 3 years. Error-free and automated order service is provided by Webshippy’s proprietary logistics software.
