- Starfield will be shown extensively in the summer of 2022
Todd Howard made the announcement during a questioning session with fans on Reddit yesterday. He was asked if players can expect revolutionary innovations in the game, to which he replied: “We prefer to show it, and that should happen next summer. We are happy with the progress we are making. You can see some of that in the trailer which was shot in-game.” He’s talking about the reveal trailer shown this summer. Howard also said that players get a lot of freedom in the assembling their playable character in Starfield. One can even determine the character’s pronoun (“he, she, them”). Specific dialogs are included for each of these options. Starfield must additionally provide “full mod support”, similar to previous Bethesda Game Studios games. “Our modders community has been by our side for 20 years. We love what they do and hope some can make a career out of it.”
In Starfield, players join the Constellation, an organization that explores space on the “last journey of humanity”, hundreds of years in the future. The game will be released on November 11, 2022 for Xbox Series X and S and PC.
