The revelation that Activision’s RICOCHET anti-cheat had been upgraded with all-new features designed to screw with cheaters completely was made in a blog post recently published on CallofDuty.com. It was also emphasized that the anti-cheat software can now detect third-party hardware, such as the infamous Cronus devices, which take almost all of the weapon recoil out of the game.

It is a monumental step forward for Activision and the associated studios, as the Warzone ecosystem has been plagued by cheaters of all kinds, more or less, since the first game debuted in 2020. This change is expected to have a positive impact on the ecosystem. Players have been able to “get away” with using Cronus-style devices in the game for an extremely long time. Even some of the best Warzone players worldwide have been accused of using these devices.
One thing is certain: all of that might be about to shift soon.
If you try to cheat the game, RICOCHET will make things difficult.
However, suppose RICOCHET detects that you are using a Cronus-like device or any other type of cheat or hack in Warzone 2.0 (or Modern Warfare II). In that case, it will mess with your game and make your experience miserable.
You have earned each and every second of it. Let’s be fair.
The RICOCHET development team is introducing three new game mechanics to protect honest players from dishonesty. To begin, there is cloaking, so hackers and cheaters can’t see players who are playing honestly.

Then there is the Disarm ability, which compels a cheating player to drop their weapon and leaves them open to any damage that may be dealt. Therefore, it is possible to kill them, but they cannot defend themselves. It’s the epitome of poetic justice. This functionality is highlighted in the following section, which was taken from a blog post written by Activision and published on their website:
Last but not least, the Damage Shield feature of the game shields a legitimate player from any damage that may be dealt to them by a cheater that RICOCHET has identified. They can waste as much ammo as they want, but they won’t be able to cause any harm to players who are playing honestly.
In addition, the RICOCHET update, which will be released simultaneously with the Season Three update, will include implementing several anti-toxicity measures.
For example, players who are griefing other users, using exploits, or boosting their accounts will be identified and given warnings if caught in the act. In the worst-case scenario, they risk having access to the platform restricted or having the information in their accounts deleted.
Therefore, young people don’t steal… RICOCHET is on its way to get you.
