Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Defense Minister Pervez Khattak on on Saturday met with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders and delivered Prime Minister Imran Khan’s message in advance of vote on the distrust of the opposition vote against the premier.
From PML-Q, the president of the Assembly of Punjab Parvez Elahi, his son and Minister of Water Resources Moonis Elahi and Minister of Housing and Works Tariq Bashir Cheema were present at the meeting.
With five seats in the National Assembly, the PML-Q is a key ally of the PTI in the center as well as Punjab, and the opposition would demand it votes in order for not trust move against the premier to be successful.
After the meeting, Qureshi said that today’s meeting was part of of the efforts of the PTI “to get closer to its allies”. He said the meeting was “fantastic”.
According to a statement released by PML-Q, Khattak and Qureshi relayed Prime Minister Imran’s message to the party leader. However, the declaration was not processed on what was the message
The statement also states that Cheema informed PTI ministers of difficulty being faced from his party over the past three ea half years.
For their part, PTI ministers said Prime Minister Imran would be informed of the “situation” explained by Cheema, according to the statement.
The statement also quoted Parvez Elahi as saying PML-Q chairman Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain would be taken in confidence with greetings at today’s meeting and that the next a meeting would be held between the two sides in Islamabad.
Prior to the meeting, he had observed Parvez Elahi in an informal interview with media people who the “drop scene of the drama in course in the country will not happen in this moment”.
