Belgrade, May 17 – The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazović, said that Montenegro has become a leader in Europe in terms of the number of citizens admitted to Ukraine in relation to the population of the republic, they have reached 5% of the total population.
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister of Montenegro will take part in the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the member states of the Council of Europe in Reykjavik.
“Montenegro today has the largest number of Ukrainians per capita (per citizen – liberated) in Europe, they make up about 5% of our population and everyone feels safe and comfortable … Despite the tough sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation, today Montenegrins and a certain number live Of Russian citizens who live with Ukrainians and there are no problems, ”the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers quoted Abazovich’s speech in Iceland.
The Prime Minister of Montenegro emphasized that “Montenegro has stood by Ukraine from the first day of Russian aggression, and we will do everything we can to support our friends until the end.”
Monstat, Montenegro’s statistical department, published an estimate in May, according to 617,213 people living in the country. The census is scheduled to take place in November 2023.
