KP governor calls on President Alvi to discuss election date

ISLAMABAD: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province Haji Ghulam Ali called on President Dr. Arif Alvi on Issues related to the elections were discussed on Tuesday for provincial assembly.

The Supreme Court (SC) came to the meeting of Pakistan heard the suo motu notice given by the Chief Justice. of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial on delay in announcement of date for elections for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assemblies.

According to the Supreme Court (SC), CJP Umar Ata Bandial took notification of a note received from the registrar of the high court. “It became known that a month had passed since the dissolution of two provincial assemblies,” the CJP said in a statement.

The Supreme Court statement says that bench will evaluate who is entitled to issue date for polls, constitutional responsibility of Center and provinces, as well as who fulfill a constitutional obligation of elections and when.

The President announces the date

It is appropriate to mention here that President Dr. Arif Alvi announced April 9 as a date for holding general elections for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assemblies. announced date under section 57(2) of Constitution.
