The creative powerhouse behind the 2026 streaming sensation His & Hers is reuniting to adapt Alice Feeney’s upcoming novel, Twist. The project marks a swift follow-up for the team after their previous collaboration secured a dominant position on global streaming charts earlier this year.
According to production reports, William Oldroyd is set to return as both writer and director for the adaptation. The series is being developed by Fifth Season in partnership with Jessica Chastain’s Freckle Films and Tessa Thompson’s Viva Maude—the same production collective that shepherded His & Hers to its record-breaking debut.
The move follows massive viewership numbers for the team’s first outing. Internal Netflix data for the first half of 2026 confirmed that His & Hers, which premiered on January 8, was the platform’s most-watched series for the period. The crime thriller drew 104 million global views, totaling 454.3 million hours watched and surpassing major franchise installments like Bridgerton Season 4.

While Twist is being positioned as a spiritual successor in terms of its creative DNA, the plot shifts focus to a high-stakes domestic mystery. The story centers on a flight attendant leading a complex double life, maintaining two entirely separate households with two different husbands. The narrative tension hinges on the collision of these two worlds and the secrets required to keep them apart.
The source material by Feeney is currently scheduled for publication in February 2027. Given the early stage of the series development, it is expected that the television premiere will align with or follow the book’s release window.
Current reports have not confirmed whether Jon Bernthal or Tessa Thompson will appear in front of the camera for Twist. While both were instrumental to the success of His & Hers, their involvement in the new project is currently verified only through their respective production banners. Fans of the previous series are closely watching for casting announcements to see if the leading duo will headline this second collaboration or remain strictly in producing roles.
