After almost four years, the US audio brand Bose is delivering Update for the over-ears of the Quietcomfort series. The Quietcomfort 35 II is followed by the Quietcomfort 45. The new headset, which can be seen as part of the model family, comes in two matt colors, white and black. The improvements lie in the technology. From the outside you can see the switch to USB-C as a charging port instead of the previous micro-USB connection.
Quietcomfort 45 focuses the home office
Bose already had the very good Quietcomfort 35 II took into account the increasing importance of the home office as a place of work. The Quietcomfort 45 should now run for up to 24 hours on one battery charge and a fourth integrated microphone should improve voice recording. A full charge of the battery should take 2.5 hours, while a 15-minute charge should ensure up to three hours of music playback. The headset does not offer a fast charging function.
Bose also claims to have improved the sound of the new model through changes to the in-house Triport acoustic architecture. In conjunction with the active noise cancellation (ANC) that is still present, this is intended to ensure that lower tones land more reliably deep in the auricles.

ANC with slight improvements
The ANC of the Quietcomfort (QC) 45 offers two modes – Quiet and Aware. The former largely shields ambient noise, while the latter amplifies the noise from the immediate vicinity. The active equalizer of the QC 45 is volume-optimized so that elements such as the bass remain constant at different volumes. As before, a software equalizer is available for individual sound adjustment via the Bose Music app, which is available for Android and iOS.
Anyone who already knows a headset from the QC series will not be puzzled. In particular, the manufacturer has left operating elements in place. The QC 45 transmits with Bluetooth 5.1. It is possible to connect several devices at the same time. A 3.5 millimeter jack socket is also available.

The over-ears can now be pre-ordered in Bose’s online shop. They are sold for around 350 euros. Bose promises to ship pre-orders starting September 20th. The QC 45 should be available in stores everywhere from September 23rd.
Save with the Bose 700
With the QC 45, Bose brings the Quietcomfort series technically on par with the also quite new Bose Noise Canceling Headphone 700, which we rated positively in our large test of the best ANC headsets. The technical specs are similar, but the 700 offers “only” 20 hours of running time.
In terms of sound, both over-ears should be on the same level. What Bose has been using in the 700 for a long time can now also be found in the QC 45. So if you are interested in sound and voice capability, you can even save significantly by buying the Bose 700 compared to the new QC 45. The Bose 700 can already be sold at street prices for 250 euros .
