French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister George Meloni Discuss Economic Assistance to Tunisia

The Urgent Need for Assistance
Italian Prime Minister George Meloni said Paris and Rome agreed on the need for the European Union to work “practically and seriously” to help Tunisia, a country that has witnessed a massive exodus of migrants to Europe in recent months.
Tunisia’s Credit Rating Downgraded
Earlier in June, Fitch Ratings downgraded Tunisia’s credit rating to ‘CCC-‘ from ‘CCC+’, citing uncertainty about the country’s ability to raise enough funds to meet its financial needs.
