Launched six years ago and sold several hundred million times, not officially available for three years from Apple and still in frequent use – iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are certainly among the most popular victims of Whatsapp’s new support stop. As on more than three dozen other smartphone models, including various Samsung Galaxy devices, WhatsApp will soon no longer run on iPhones, according to a US media report.

Whatsapp stops support for older smartphones
As the Facebook subsidiary announced that from November 1, 2021, only smartphones with operating systems from Android 4.1, iOS 10 and KaiOS 2.5.1 can install and use the messenger service. Users of older devices have to expect that WhatsApp will at least no longer run to their full extent. The reason is that the developers fear that the old software running on it will no longer be updated, which could impair security. With the end of support, the number of operating system versions for which new functions would have to be tested decreases, as reported by tz.de.

In addition, according to the Entrepreneur.com list, the Whatsapp support for the Apple smartphones iPhone SE and iPhone 6S and 6S Plus . However, they have the iOS 10 currently required by WhatsApp. The US colleagues seem to know something that is not officially known.
Whatsapp support stop: save chat history
Users: inside affected devices have various options as to how they can proceed in view of the impending support stop. If you don’t want to decide on a new device in advance, you should first create a backup of your own chat history. To do this, call up the settings and tick the Backup option under Chats.
