Visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz flood-hit KP areas, Mohmand dam

ISLAMABAD:

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif arrived. in Nowshera on from Monday to review ongoing rescue work in in flood- devastated areas.

During the visit prime minister would also distribute emergency relief checks among the flood struck people.

The authorities informed him of in latest flood situation, ongoing rescue and relief operations, and funds provided to the displaced people in relief camps.

He was also reported that the victim people were extended medical facilities in the camps, as well as in their places of residence.

Flood relief efforts by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) are ongoing. in various areas of KP. At least 10,000 houses built. destroyed193 people killed and 16 schools damaged, according to the PDMA report. At least 959 goals of cattle also died in various accidents.

KP government An emergency evacuation order was issued. for two areas after the Munda Headworks Bridge in Charsadda who controlled the flow of swat river collapsed on Friday evening due to devastating flooding caused by rain in provinces.

In addition to considering aid work, prime minister will also meet flood victims in in area. Inhabitants of areas, especially those living close to the river, were asked to evacuate them homes to save their lives.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also visit the workplace of Mohmand Dam, where he will be informed about the projects progress. Construction work on Mohmand dam hydroelectric power plant project began in May 2019 and is expected to be completed by mid-2026.

However, completion of in project may suffer from delays if “he receives a large hit fresh floods,” experts say.

Mohmand Dam of great value for softening of floods and save Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera from future flood events. Annual Benefits in terms of flood mitigation is estimated at Rs 1.467 billion.
