Great Rapids A video released Wednesday shows a Grand Rapids police officer shooting a man while he was on upper of him during struggle in which the man was apparently trying to gain control of officer stun gun.
Patrick Leia, 26, was mortally wounded. on April 4 after police said he fought during a traffic stop over license plate registration. issue, the officials said. The incident happened at 8:11 am near the intersection. of Griggs and Nelson. Leia was driving vehicle and there was a male passenger in in car.
Approximately 20 minutes later of Footage released by the Grand Rapids Police during a press conference on Wednesday shows Leya exiting the vehicle in green sweater before the approach of the officer. The officer orders him to get back in car asks for his rights and if he speaks English, to which Leia replies yes.

Lei family declined to comment through them family spokesman, and said they needed to talk with Crump and plan to hold a press conference on Thursday.
