WASHINGTON: legislators in The United States expressed concern about the state of human rights in pakistan like government of Shehbaz Sharif continues repression against people involved in protests against short arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan.
Senator Bob Menendez, Chairman of V powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee Among Concerns over arrests and trial of protesters as Pakistan fights with acute political crisis.
Senator Menendez expresses concern over treatment of leaders, workers and supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party following their arrests following the protests.
During the meeting with Pakistani-American physician Asif Mahmood, who was also Democratic nominee for Congressional senator stressed the desire of the United States for stability and respect for human rights in Pakistan.
He also expressed his deep concern for innocent Pakistani Americans detained in country, promising advocate for their rights.
Dr. Mahmoud informed Senator Menendez that Pakistan currently facing a crisis of democracy and human rights calling for US intervention in situation. In response, Senator Menendez affirmed the importance of respecting human rights and rule of law saying that stability, not turmoil, is goal.

Two PTI Leaders in USA, Sajjad Burki and Atif Khan held meetings with Senator John Cornyn in Dallas, Texas. They said Senator Cornyn assured them of raising the issue in U.S. Senate and passage of bipartisan human rights bill in Pakistan. They also mentioned that they would attract attention of State Department to issue.
Sheila Jackson, head of congregation in pakistan in USA house of representatives expressed concern over reports of human rights violations and lack of of protection for peaceful protesters in Pakistan.

As founder and chairman of meeting of the Pakistan Congress, she tweeted her concerns and her intention to write to President Biden and Secretary of State of The Blinken State, urging them to eliminate human rights violations against opposition, etc.
She stressed the importance of advancing a democratic Pakistan while maintaining a strong US-Pakistan relationship.
Statements by Senator Menendez, Senator Cornyn, and Congressman Jackson are the same. with cooking for conference on human rights situation in Pakistan, planned to be adopted place in third week of June on Capitol Hill.
The conference is designed to address issues raised by US lawmakers and provide a platform for discussions on human rights situation in Pakistan.
PTI known for his active presence in USA, engaged with numerous members of Congress, many of who is expected to participate in conference.
