Britain’s largest telecommunications company BRITISH TELECOM plans to reduce its workforce by 42% by 2030 after the company completes its transition to fiber optic technology.
After the announcement of the annual results, BT said that by 2030 its workforce will be reduced to 75,000–90,000 employees, compared to 130,000 employees currently.
By the end of 2025, the company aims to save $3.7 billion annually compared to 2020 figures.
BT is upgrading its national copper network for high-speed fiber optic communications.
BT also plans to make its state-of-the-art infrastructure available to 25 million homes by the end of 2026.
