British embassy guard in Berlin is suspected of espionage for Russia extradited from Germany and will appear in British court on Thursday, the police said.
David Smith, 57, was arrested by German police. on August 10 last year and accused of collection information from the British Embassy in Berlin intends pass him to a foreign country.

He left Germany today and is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court. on This was announced on Thursday by the Metropolitan Police.
The alleged crimes were committed between October 2020 and August 2021.
Smith was extradited back to UK from Berlin on Wednesday after it arrest by the German police last August.
Nick Price head of The CPS Special Crime and Terrorism Unit said: “David Smith has been charged. with nine offenses contrary to the Official Secrets Act.
“He is accused of seven crimes of collection information with intention of sending it to the Russian authorities, one of attempt to communicate and one of providing information a person whom he considered a member of Russian authorities.
“After reviewing the case and approving the charges, we received an extradition order and worked closely with with our German colleagues in order to bring Mr Smith back to the UK.”
Smith was known to be under MI5 surveillance and was detained. in Potsdam over claims that he worked”for foreigner secret service, German public the prosecutor said at the time.
His arrest was result of joint investigation by German and British authorities and investigators searched it home as well as office- the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
