Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Virginia reopened Sunday afternoon after police had previously evacuated the mall. on reports of shots fired. The confusion was caused broken light fixture.

According to the Fairfax County Police, officers found no evidence of shooting during the investigation and concluded that the fallen light the fixture had caused loud noise what people in shots were allegedly fired at the mall.



Loud, according to police sound happened around 2:45 pm on Sunday. Minutes later, officers cleared the mall after receiving numerous calls with the message possible shots within building.

After examining the scene, law enforcement officers came to the conclusion that the fallen light the fixture had caused in sound which alarmed visitors to the mall.

A handful of videos appeared on Twitter shows initial panic as people tried to escape from the mall.

Several callers told WTOP that they were at the mall and were evacuated during the initial panic.

Maurice Potts, Press Secretary for Tysons Corner Center, said on Twitter what light the fixture crashed around the corridor of the Nordstrom wing.

The mall was reopened and the police allowed people return.
