The Tigray Front announced today, Saturday, that the battles will not stop before the liberation of all Tigray region from the Ethiopian forces and their militias, calling for an international investigation into the massacres committed by the Ethiopian forces in Tigray.
As the Tigray Front said It will cooperate with international organizations to deliver relief to more than two million displaced people.
The Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, indicated that the international organization is urging the Tigray Defense Forces to agree to an immediate and complete ceasefire. It was previously announced by the Ethiopian government in the region.
The United Nations had warned that more than four hundred thousand people in Tigray are currently suffering from starvation.
Estimates indicate that another million and eight hundred thousand people are on the brink of starvation, in addition to the suffering of 33 thousand children from acute malnutrition. Clashes in the area despite the announcement of a ceasefire by the government.
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front described the declaration of a ceasefire.
There were reports of continued clashes in some areas with increasing international pressure on all parties.
Thousands of people were killed in the conflict, and international pressure escalated on Ethiopia Again last week after a military airstrike on a crowded market in Tigray killed more than 60 people.
Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of people are now facing famine conditions as eyewitnesses confirm that fighters have looted crops and other food sources.
