Thunderstorms warning when the temperature drops after a heat wave

The meteorological office urged people stay in the room possible like south of England hit by ‘huge congestion’ of thunderstorms.

As temperatures plummeted from Friday’s highs of 32C, the weatherman fired lightning warning that he only used a “handful” of times before.

Forecasters have warned of “frequent lightning and some difficult driving conditions” on Saturday night especially for parts of Sussex, Kent, Essex and Suffolk.

Meteorologist Becky Mitchell reported a cold front from north was responsible for a sharp jump in temperature.

“I felt like It was just Summer is coming, but it’s cooler now,” she said.

“A lot of of places in temperature observed in the UK drop of about 10-15 degrees in in some places, which is massive.

“We have a huge cluster of thunderstorms in southwest of England, there’s potential we could see in southeast later on tonight.”

The meteorological office issued only lightning warning three times before, recently in 2019.

“If you do any outdoor activities, move inside if you can best really advice,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Stay away from any power lines or something like something that could potentially be struck by lightning.

“If you find yourself in open location stay close to the ground, away from anything that can conduct lightning.”

Although weather visible on friday hardly for immediate futureit looks like set improve in time for glastonbury festival next a week.

The temperature can reach 26 degrees on Thursday, before cooling, because event comes to the end over weekends.

“It looks like in start of Glastonbury, especially Wednesday or Thursday, is likely to be dry, hot and sunny,” Ms Mitchell said.

“Per anyone parameter up your tent will probably be pretty good weather.

“On the eve of the weekend from Friday it looks like we could see more in in way of showers, perhaps solar periods and showers.

While the maximum temperature was 32.7C on Friday, highest on Saturday was 27C in Herstmonceux, East Sussex and there were showers in many places with The meteorological office that issues yellow warning for the southwest of England as lightning and heavy rain approached.
