Thomas Robertson former sergeant of rocky mount police in Virginia faced charges, including obstruction of law enforcement officials, obstruction official goes on and on and on in prohibited grounds and falsification with certificate.

During the trial, a member of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia testified that a man with a cane who prosecutors say Robertson, hit him and another officer when they tried pass through the crowd of rioters during attack. Prosecutors played some clips of incident, including footage from the police body cameras were worn that day.
Prosecutors cited online messages that Robertson allegedly wrote a month before attack where did he call for “open armed rebellion.”
“Defendant made good on that’s a promise,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Aloi told the jury during the opening debate, alleging that Robertson used a large stick to obstruct officers who were named in as back up during the riot.
Robertson former Rocky Mount Police colleague Jacob Fraker testified that Robertson joined him inside the capitol, took a photo with they joined in singing and applause with crowd inside. Fraker also testified that he had given Robertson his cell phone after the couple were told to contact him and that Robertson hung up in container for ammo and told him something effect of “problem resolved.”
According to FBI agent Katherine Camilleri, who explored two men and Robertson and Fraker activated new phones in days after the riot.
In closing speeches on Friday, Robertson’s lawyers argued that he “had no plans go down and say “I’m going to stop Congress from doing this vote'” and continued to suggest that Robertson’s stick was with he was just a cane.
Robertson awaits trial in jail since July, after investigators stated that found rifle and bomb making material in his home and found out that he bought 37 more guns on Internet after it original arrest in January 2021.
