The Unclear Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease: Insights from Professor Andrei Emelin

Unclear Signs of Alzheimer’s Disease

Professor Andrei Emelin, a neurologist at the Military Medical Academy, explained the unclear signs that may indicate the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in humans.

Loss of Interest as a Possible Indicator

According to him, the classic known signs of the disease, such as memory loss, do not develop immediately. But relatives of an elderly person should be careful if they notice that he has lost interest in the reality around him, in one of his hobbies or in what he was interested in.

Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is considered one of the most common types of dementia (loss of cognitive abilities), in which the brain stops performing its functions correctly and problems with memory, thinking, and behavior begin. This disease is usually observed in older people, but rare cases of early onset of the disease have been recorded.

Search for Effective Treatments

The professor notes that scientists continue to search for effective ways to treat people with this disease, as well as procedures that can prevent infection and its development, and also help improve brain health. For example, a drug has recently been approved in the US to treat the disease, with innovators claiming that Lekembi (trade name) is effective in controlling symptoms and slowing the progression of the disease.

Coffee as a Preventive Measure

Researchers from the Italian University of Verona have concluded that a cup of coffee can serve as an excellent preventive measure against the development of Alzheimer’s disease.
