Expatriate Salaries in the UK

The UK includes the most expensive countries for expatriate recruitment companies as the average expatriate salary (including benefits package) reached $441,608 for a full year in 2022.

Employee benefits also rose 4% to $167,594,000, the highest in the world, with wages accounting for less than a fifth of the total package.

Most Expensive Countries for Expatriate Recruitment

According to an ECA-affiliated MyExpatriate Market Pay survey, these are the most expensive countries in the world to attract employees from abroad, and therefore these are the best countries to work as an expatriate:

United Kingdom: $441,608

Japan: $370,183

India: $354,028

China: $313,011

Hong Kong: $278,020

Cost of Doing Business

Due to fluctuations in the US dollar, and when wages and prices are calculated in dollars, more than half of the cities saw a decrease in the cost of doing business.

As such, Japan remains the top destination for expats in Asia.

And due to the weak Japanese yen, the costs for businesses in the Asian country in 2022 will be 12% lower than last year, and 9% this year.
