The Rise and Fall of the “Threads” Application

The world of technology and social media applications may not have seen a leap in the success of an application in a short period of 10 days, and also a leap backwards that has lost its luster in a short period, as happened with the “Threads” application.

User Engagement Declines

According to the newspaper, user engagement on topics continued to decline after the initial peak in the number of subscriptions, leading to a 2.78% drop in pressure on major profile platforms.

The Glow and Fade of “Threads”

And with its glow reaching its highest, since its launch on July 6, with the number of subscribers of “Threads” reaching 150 million people in 10 days, until this glow started to fade 3 days after its launch with the inactivity of millions of users who were counted among the active ones.

Decrease in Daily Active Users

According to SensorTower and SimilarWeb, for engagement tracking, there is a 20% drop in the number of daily active users of an app, along with a 50% drop in the time users spend on it.

Expert Insight on the Decline

Sensor Tower CEO Anthony Bartolacchi commented that the first three days of Threads were special, but they didn’t last. As the site has tracked a significant decrease in user interaction.

Update and Features

This comes at a time when Meta, the company that owns the app, is updating Threads for iPhone with a number of new features, according to app developer Cameron Roth, including translation and a dedicated follow tab in the activity feed that shows posts from users you follow.

Competition and Criticism

“Meta” CEO Mark Zuckerberg had announced the launch of the platform linked to the “Instagram” platform, while this was considered a competition for the “Twitter” platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk, who himself repeatedly criticized “Threads”, and felt that Zuckerberg had “copied” the idea of “Twitter”.
