The Jbl Quantum 350 does not convince

The experience with this software is quite positive. The software is well-arranged, shows no unnecessary pop-ups and does not require a login. Not only do you find settings for adjusting the frequency response and the aforementioned RGB lighting in Quantum Engine, but you also get access to two different surround sound codecs: Jbl Quantum Surround and Dts Headphone:x 2.0. Before we start listening to the surround sound, we first put on a fair amount of different music – in neutral mode. You can immediately hear that the characteristic Jbl layer is back. That is to say: quite exaggerated and undefined low. When listening to electronic music, this often means that a large part of the song is buried under the sub-layer. This of course has a somewhat negative effect on the definition, but it also ensures that you get tired quickly when you listen to music on the Quantum 350.

The highs, on the other hand, are quite precise, but they can’t always compete with the excess of lows. The listening experience is also fairly busy. It often feels like every element in a song, whether it’s loud or soft, demands equal attention at the same time. With music with an acoustic base, the Quantum 350 is a bit more forgivable, but thanks to this feature, it often feels like you can never quite get to the core of the music. You hear everything, but there seems to be a distance between the musical story and your perception.

The Jbl Quantum 350 is comfortable , has quite a few options and is not too expensive. Still, the headset cannot really convince.

During gaming, the sound balance is better. The bass here gives a pleasing focus on grandeur and immersion. This ensures, for example, a convincing translation of cutscenes and in-game explosions. The busy listening experience that makes listening to music with the Quantum 350 unsuccessful, ensures that you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action while gaming. The localization is also reasonable. It is a pity – especially with faster shooters – that the low occasionally seems to take some of the speed out of the gameplay.

The Quantum Surround Sound in combination with the 350 is a bit disappointing. The volume balance of in-game sound changes once this surround sound is turned on. This sometimes results in unwanted results, such as eliminating the sounds of a weapon reloading. The switched-on surround sound also further amplifies the low-frequency information, which is really unnecessary. Dts Headphone:x 2.0 – the other surround sound codec – performs slightly more convincingly on the Quantum 350. The emphasis of this surround sound seems to be on adding extra depth and spatial experience. A big lack is a button on the headset itself that makes it possible to switch the surround sound on and off.

Conclusion The Jbl Quantum 350 is comfortable, has a fair amount of options and is not too expensive. Still, the headset cannot really convince. It completely lacks flexible connection options, multi-deployability and it also falls slightly short in terms of build quality. If you’re a fan of the signature low-frequency information-infused Jbl sound, and you’ve been wanting a wireless Quantum that isn’t too expensive for a long time, the 350 might suit you. All other users better do a search.
