Video portions of which were issued by the committee on Wednesday it seems show man takes photos of tunnels, corridors and stairs in the Capitol complex, while on tour led by Loudermilk. Committee also released footage that seems to show the same man marching to the Capitol on January 6.
The committee has not identified the man, but sources say the committee interviewed him. The Committee has also did not provide evidence that the man in Video hit the Capitol on January 6.
This was stated by the chief of police of the Capitol, Tom Munger. shows Loudermilk”with a group of about 12 people which later grew to 15 people”Walk in the Capitol office building on 5 January. nursery also said that group of visitors didn’t “appear in any tunnels that lead them to the US Capitol.”
“On May 19, 2022, a special committee invited you to a meeting with us about evidence of the tour you provided on January 5, 2021 Founded on our review of CCTV, social media activities and testimony of witnesses, we understand that you conducted a tour group through parts of capitol complex on January 5, 2021. group remained for few hours even though the complex is closed for public on that day,” Committee Chairman, Democratic Rep. Benny Thompson of Mississippi, said Wednesday in a new letter to Loudermilk.
“CCTV footage shows tour of about ten people led by you to the districts in Rayburn, Longworth and Cannon House office buildings and tunnel entrances leading to the US Capitol,” he said. added. “Individuals on tour photographed and recorded areas of complex is not typical of tourist interest, including corridors, stairways and security checkpoints.”
Representative Zoe Lofgren, Member of The House Select Committee said CNN’s Erin Burnett. on OutFront later Wednesday that she was “surprised by the letter because if you look at the video you can see with your own eyes happening”, adding that it “was not reflected in Letter from the Capitol Police.
Laudermilk said in CNN’s statement following the release of Wednesday’s video that “the Capitol police already put it down false bed charges, but the committee undermines the Capitol police and doubles down on their smear campaign releasing the so-called evidence of tour of The house of office buildings that I have already public address”.
“According to the Capitol police, nothing about this visit with voters were suspicious. Pictures show children holding bags from home gift shop, which was open for visitors and photography of Rayburn train,” he said. added. “This false the story that the Committee and the Democrats keep pushing is that the Republicans, myself included, were spying tours provably false. No where did I go with guests in House Office Buildings on January 5 were violated on January 6; and as far as I know no one in what group was prosecuted in with respect to January 6th.
Lofgren, a California Democrat, stressed that the committee did not accuse Laudermilk of of any wrongdoing by asking him to speak with them, saying, “We asked him to come in and talk to us about this tour, which he hasn’t done yet.”
“And as you can see from the video, we were about to go over video with his. Since he refused to come in, we let him out and now he can watch it,” she continued.
Asked by Burnett what might prompt the Capitol police to come up with a different version, Lofgren replied: “I have no idea if that is competence. issue or what, but it’s not accurate. And as you can see with your own eyes Judging by the video, what they said is not true.”
The committee did not directly blame Loudermilk. of leading reconnaissance tour, but he asked him to volunteer to answer questions about what he saw on video released Wednesday. Loudermilk story, however, changed several times in terms of details of what’s happened on 5 January.
As the Capitol riot unfolded, Loudermilk spoke to a local radio station in Georgia and said he met with “about a dozen” people from him home announce the day before on capitol hill who traveled to Washington for Trump rally that preceded attack.
Loudermilk said during an interview that he hosted in people in his office as well as on day of riot, tested to make sure they were safe.
“Actually we had about a dozen people up this wanted to come and visit we had them on our office. They were definitely peaceful people what we met in the church … were supporters of President, they just wanted to be up it’s like another rally here,” he told Georgian radio station WBHF. on January 6, 2021, by unknown location when the rebels stormed the Capitol.
“We really checked on make them sure they were safe. They saw what he was turning into, immediately turned around and went back down mall to get away from the crowd here,” he added.
Loudermilk has since characterized participants in this meeting on January 5th as its constituents, including families with children.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have proposed releasing a video they think will exonerate Loudermilk of any hint that he made a so-called “reconnaissance” tour the night before the riots.
