Cyber threats such as ransomware are more of a threat today than ever before. Since the most effective way to test the ability of organizations to respond to incidents is to conduct a cyber exercise, and this is especially justified in the case of service sectors that provide vital services for the functioning of social and economic processes, National Cyber Defense on November 10, 2022, the Institute of National Security Specialists conducted a comprehensive exercise on cybersecurity in the domestic banking sector with the involvement of its subjects.
During the exercise, in addition to the procedural and technical capabilities of the players’ organizations related to incident management, decision-making, official communication and communication with the press were also tested. This year’s framework history of exercises was developed on the basis of the phenomena of hacktivism and terrorism. The players’ organizations were notified of the attack, which they were to investigate within their competence, through various technical and media news, filtering out misleading information that hindered the effectiveness of the investigations.
HunEx exercises regularly end with a final evaluation event where players also have the opportunity to provide feedback on the exercise, this happened at the online evaluation event held on December 1, 2022. The organizations participating in the HunEx 2022 exercise demonstrated advanced technical analysis and incident management skills, as well as the collaboration skills needed to effectively manage IT incidents.
