On Friday, Team Fortress 2 achieved a record number of concurrent players.
According to the SteamDB platform, there were 151,223 players active simultaneously, the highest number since the game’s launch in 2007. Since 2019, the number of players of Valve’s heroshooter has been steadily increasing.
The game will receive regular updates with gameplay adjustments and cosmetic additions. On June 22, the developer made some changes to combat bots, which may be the reason for the current player spike.
Ai-driven players pretending to be humans have been a problem in Team Fortress 2 for years, but with the latest update, Valve says it’s easier to to recognize and remove. Presumably, some of the active players are still bots.
