Stephen Flynn has applied to become a member of the SNP. next leader in Westminster. Flynn, who represents South Aberdeen since 2019, announced his candidacy on his twitter account on Sunday evening.
news comes just two weeks after Flynn denied rumors that he would stand for leadership after speculation in news articles he staged a coup against Ian Blackford, 61 who resigned as leader of Westminster earlier this week.
Flynn, 34, wrote: “Few working-class people make it to parliament, even fewer run be political leaders.
“Even fewer people do it, having spent almost everything of their teenage and adult years struggle with physical handicaps.
“Your experience is usually shape you and I are no different.”
Like his parliamentary colleague Alison Thewliss, 40, who announced she stood as Westminster leader on Saturday night, Flynn hit out in Westminster culture.
He said, “We have people, skills and know-how – we just need in power. Since the answers to problems we face do not lie in Westminster.
“The Tories will continue to destroy our relationship. with Europe and Labor party cheer them up on”.
Flynn said he’ll be “strong voice” for Scotland at Westminster and asked colleagues “rely on your faith” in his.
He ousted former Conservative MP Ross Thompson. in 2019 and according to reports in The Press and Journal has “strong supporters” among the 45 SNP MPs in Westminster.
Flynn had suffered from a serious condition called avascular necrosis since adolescence and underwent surgery. for this is two years ago.
Deputies of the SNP will vote on Blackford’s replacement at their AGM on Tuesday.
