Spotify Introduces New Artist Profile Pages with Music, Events, and Merch Tabs

Spotify Introduces New Artist Profile Pages

Spotify is making it easier for users to connect with artists on its streaming music platform. The company has unveiled artist profile pages, featuring three main tabs: Music, Events, and Merch. These tabs offer a range of features and content aimed at enhancing the user experience.

Music Tab

Under the Music tab, artists can showcase their tracks, albums, and more. In addition, they can now use Clips – short-form videos that provide a glimpse into their creative process or behind-the-scenes moments. Artists can also include fundraising links in this section, allowing them to gather financial support through partners like Cash App, Givealittle, GoFundMe, iyzico, Mercado Pago, PayPal.me, PayU, and Music Relief organizations.

Another feature of the Music tab is the ability to highlight popular releases, featured playlists (including editorial, radio, and algorithmic playlists), and an Artist Pick. The Artist Pick can be used by artists to promote anything important, such as new merch, show announcements, releases, or playlists. To keep the content fresh, each Artist Pick will expire every six months.

Events Tab

The Events tab allows fans to purchase tickets for shows or indicate their interest in upcoming events in their area. Spotify has partnered with various ticketing platforms, including Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, AXS, Songkick, DICE, Gigantic, NoCap, nugs.net, Resident Advisor, See Tickets, StageIt, Ticketek, Tixr, and Eplus (in Japan). Tests have shown that the dedicated Events tab has increased concert engagement by 70% and driven a 15% increase in ticket sales.

Merch Tab

The Merch tab enables artists to showcase up to 12 of their latest merchandise items. This feature is made possible through Spotify’s partnership with Shopify, which allows artists to sync their product catalogs to the app. By dedicating a separate tab for merch, Spotify has seen a 22% increase in purchases from users who visit an artist’s profile.

Enhancements and Future Plans

In addition to the new profile pages, Spotify plans to introduce other artist-focused features throughout its app. These include showcasing merch and events in various sections and personalized Live Events Feeds tailored to users’ music preferences. The revamped profiles are currently available on Spotify’s mobile app only.
