Four state primaries were held on Tuesday, and in one of the most popular races in South Carolina, CBS News Projects Russell Fry wins the 7th District Republican primary by defeating incumbent Rep. Tom Rice, who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump.
Tuesday’s primaries are set up a little of majority expensive general election matches in the fall.
Rice has vehemently defended her vote impeachment, recently telling Politico that “I think it was one of the worst, if not worst, things a president has ever done in terms of attack on the constitution and division of strength.”

CBS News projects that Rep. Nancy Mays won Republican primaries in 1st District of South Carolina. Mays, Republican freshman who flipped South Carolina’s 1st district from blue to red in a Trump-backed defeat former State Rep. Kathy Arrington, 2018 Republican nominee for this area who lost to Democrat Joe Cunningham.
