The presentation follows a period of uncertainty that began in September 2023. At that time, a set of four 20th-anniversary special episodes was indefinitely postponed to allow for quality improvements. Since that delay, the production has remained largely dark, leaving fans to speculate on the status of the anniversary content and the eventual return of the Boruto anime.
A New Production Era with Pierrot Films
The upcoming panel is expected to provide clarity on the franchise’s “quality control” hiatus. A key figure in the presentation is Yoshihiro Tominaga, an executive producer from Studio Pierrot representing the “Pierrot Films” label. This division was established in 2024 to focus on high-tier animation projects, suggesting that the three-year gap may have been used to transition the franchise into a more premium production pipeline.
