65% admit that work-related stress compromises their ability to protect their bodies. 100 percent of CSOs surveyed said they need additional resources to adequately address current IT security challenges.
The lack of bandwidth and resources affects not only CSOs but also their teams. According to the report, 74% say they are losing team members due to workplace stress, and nearly half of CSOs (47%) have had several team members quit in the past 12 months. Relentless levels of stress are also impacting recruiting efforts: 83% of CIOs admit they have had to make compromises in hiring to fill the void left by departed employees. More than a third of respondents say they are actively looking for or considering a new position.
“The results of our mental health study are devastating, but not all is hopeless. Our research shows that CSOs know exactly what they need to reduce stress: more automated tools for repetitive tasks, better training, and the ability to outsource. certain work tasks,” said Eyal Gruner, co-founder and CEO of Cynet. “One of the report’s most striking findings was that more than 50% of the CSOs surveyed said that merging multiple security technologies into a single platform would reduce their job-related stress levels,” he added, according to Beta News.
According to the study, 77% of CIOs believe that limited bandwidth and lack of resources are causing important security initiatives to fall behind, and 79% said they have received complaints from board members, peers or employees that security tasks are solved inefficiently. .
In addition, 93% believe they spend too much time on tactical tasks rather than on strategic, high-value work and leadership. More than a quarter of them reported that their working day is almost entirely devoted to tactical/operational tasks.
It also has a personal meaning: 84% of CIOs say they had to cancel a vacation due to work pressures, and 64% say they missed a private event due to work fatigue. More than 90 percent of them consistently work more than 40 hours a week without a break.
