Sardar Tanvir Ilyas of PTI elected as new Premier AZhK

MUZAFFARABAD:

Sardar Tanvir Ilyas of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was elected without resistance as the 14th prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Monday.

After resignation of Abdul Qayyum Khan Niazi as prime minister of AJK, meeting was held to elect new Leader of house. Ilyas presented nomination documents on on behalf of of PTIs that have been found to be valid secretary assembly.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan appointed Ilyas party candidate for prime ministers office while the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim Nawaz League (PML-N) jointly fielded Chaudhry Yassin.

United opposition boycotted session for elections of in prime minister without leaving a candidate in in race against Ilyas where he got 33 votes in his favor.

Elections of The prime minister of AJK was out under article 13 of Constitution and Rule 15 of legislative assembly. PTI was leading in house with 32 members and had support of Muslim conference.

first prime minister of AJK, Khan Abdul Hamid Khan, was elected on July 5, 1975 system since 1985. Sardar Sikandar Hayat, Sardar Atik Ahmad Khan and Raja Farooq Hyder Khan twice spent office of AYK PM.
