“In 2023, according to experts, the number of trips by Russians to Middle Eastern countries will increase by one and a half times and will reach more than 2 million people,” said Vakhrokov, adding that last year there were more than 1.4 million such visits.
He also indicated that the responsible departments are working to launch visa-free group travel agreements with the Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Vakhrokov said that the Middle East trend has been widely taken over by tourists from Russia. “It is also important to develop the potential of new destinations that are not yet very popular: Iran, Qatar, Jordan and Saudi Arabia,” added the deputy head of the department.
