A Russian drone sinks Ukrainian tank during village capture attempt
A Russian drone sank a Ukrainian tank and its crew during an attempt by the Ukrainian army to capture the village of Urugany in the Zaporozhye region on Sunday.
Drone footage shows the tank rushing into the river and disappearing underwater as air bubbles begin to rise to the surface.
After some time, a Ukrainian soldier swims up to help the tank crew, tries to open the hatches and help the crew get out. However, he fails.
For his part, Oleksandr Khodakovsky, head of the National Guard department in Donetsk, said that at five o’clock in the morning the Ukrainians tried to attack Uruguay from the north and from the village of Staramayorskoye, adding: “The offensive groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used equipment to clear the area and forced the Vit Yali River,” – the message says, as reported by the Russian “Sputnik”.
Russian artillery hit armored vehicles of the Ukrainian forces, and one of the suicide drones hit the tank, causing it to roll into the river and then sink into it.
Russian strikes
On Saturday evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about Russian strikes on the Khmelnytsky region and on the buildings of the Motor Sich aircraft manufacturing company, which is based in Zaporozhye (south).
On Friday evening, Ukraine attacked a Russian oil tanker in the Kerch Strait, bringing traffic to a brief halt on a strategic bridge connecting Crimea to Russia as tensions escalate in the Black Sea.
Attacks in the Black Sea have increased on both sides since Moscow refused in mid-July to renew an agreement drafted by the United Nations that allowed Ukrainian grain to be exported through the Black Sea despite Russia’s ongoing war that has been conducted in Ukraine since February 2022.
