Russian Defense Ministry Confirms Attack on Novorossiysk Naval Base
After Russian social media users reported that explosions and gunfire were heard near the Russian port of Novorossiysk on the Black Sea on Friday morning, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed this information.
Ukrainian Forces Attack Novorossiysk Naval Base
A statement on Friday said Ukrainian forces attacked the Novorossiysk naval base with two unmanned boats.
Shooting from the Sea
He added that his forces destroyed two Ukrainian camping boats.
It also turned out that Ukrainian marching boats attacked Russian warships that were escorting a civilian ship.
One of the Largest Ports
It is noteworthy that the port of Novorossiysk is one of the largest ports on the Black Sea.
Clashes in the Black Sea and adjacent ports escalated after Russia refused last month to renew an agreement allowing safe grain exports from Ukrainian ports as Russian drones and missiles hit a number of Ukrainian port facilities and wheat silos in or near the Black Sea.

The announcement came after video clips circulated online by a local group and published by the Russian news site Astra showed ships moving off the coast and gunshots coming from the sea.
At the same time, the Russian news agency said that the emergency services of Novorossiysk confirmed that there were explosions, and added that the special services had been informed.

Russia last month refused to renew an agreement allowing Ukrainian grain to be exported across the Black Sea, driving grain prices up, hitting poor countries hard.
The agreement, signed in July 2022 between Ukraine and Russia under the auspices of Turkey and the UN, aims to reduce the risk of world famine by ensuring that Ukrainian grain reaches the markets despite the war.
US officials report that about 345 million people in 79 countries are suffering from severe food insecurity.
The effects of climate change are one of the many causes of world hunger, along with armed conflicts.
