Russian Attack on Kherson: Dozen Wounded, Including Mother and Baby – Governor

A Dozen People Injured in Russian Attack on Southern Ukrainian Region

A Russian attack on the southern Ukrainian region of Kherson has left a dozen people wounded, including a 27-year-old woman and her 9-month-old baby, according to the governor of Kherson.

In a message on the Telegram messaging app, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin described it as another terrible night for Kherson.

The woman and her baby were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, while a 33-year-old Red Cross medic was also wounded in the attack.

The attack caused damage to several houses and gas pipelines in the region.

According to the region’s administration on Telegram, Russian forces carried out 59 attacks on Kherson in the past 24 hours, including 19 instances of shelling on Kherson city, the administrative center of the region.

Reports from Reuters could not be independently verified, and there has been no immediate comment from Russia.

Since the full-scale invasion by Russia in February 2022, there have been frequent air strikes and shelling on Ukraine. Despite this, Ukraine claims that its counteroffensive in the south and east is making gradual progress.

Both Russia and Ukraine deny intentionally targeting civilians, but numerous attacks have resulted in the deaths of thousands of civilians in Ukraine. The attacks have affected residential areas as well as energy, defense, port, grain, and other facilities.
