The app for electronic recipes will start in Germany in July. As announced by Gematik, the app will be published nationwide on July 1st in the app stores of Google, Apple and Huawei. Within the first four weeks, however, only insured persons in the Berlin-Brandenburg region can use the app in pharmacies. The application is to start nationwide in the fourth quarter.
Receive, save and redeem recipes
Users who are legally insured can receive e-prescriptions from their doctor via the app. In addition, information on the intake and dosage is displayed. In order to redeem the prescription in a pharmacy, the doctor’s office can either send it there directly, or the insured person shows the prescription code from the app.
Registration via electronic health card
If you want to use the app without registering, you can instead scan recipe codes from the analog prescription, save them digitally and show them at the pharmacy.
Further features in planning
In the long term, the app should have more features. It is planned to be able to request prescriptions from pharmacies, to register with several health cards and to improve the search for pharmacies.
A beta test is planned before the official launch of the app. Information on registration for interested parties should follow.
