Leaked presentation slides show ambitious smartphone

Leaked presentation slides indicate that Razer and Qualcomm may be collaborating on a ‘next-gen ‘ mobile handheld in the making.

The Qualcomm-Razer device has not yet been officially unveiled, but the leaked footage already speaks extensively about specifications and further vision for the portable console. For the time being, it seems to be a Developer Kit; not so much the actual market product.

Among the specifications mentioned is of course the SoC, which Qualcomm will supply. It concerns the Snapdragon G3 Gen1 cpu, which should work about 20 to 30 percent faster than Qualcomm’s current flagship. The chip is manufactured on a 4nm process, with an Adreno GPU of the fourth generation.

The slides also talk about an OLED screen with 120 hertz refreshment and HDR capabilities. In addition, the built-in 8k camera, which adorns the front, would be “always on”. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sight features add 18-bit RAW data, extensive bokeh effects, and other gimmicks. The optics may be supplied by Leica.

In addition to the camera, the handheld resembles a traditional smartphone on several fronts to mimic. Also floating among the technical specifications are terms such as 5G connectivity and ‘FastConnect’ for Wi-Fi 6E compatibility. The handheld should be next to

Due to the larger design — the controller-like flanks seem to be attached to the whole — the battery is also significantly larger than many smartphones. With 6,000 mAh, the handheld should last a lot longer. A USB-C connection would suffice for charging sessions, but can also be used as a DisplayPort output or to connect additional accessories.

Both Razer and Qualcomm have not yet officially said anything about the possible existence of their collaboration. Presumably, further information, in addition to the slides themselves, is still subject to strict embargoes. Once they expire, we’ll no doubt hear more about the remarkable smartphone handheld…
