BARA: Pakistani Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) activists staged a protest on Sunday against recent increase in prices of petroleum products and electricity tariffs.
PTI activists including Provincial Assembly (MPA) member Shafiq Afridi and former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Iqbal Afridi gathered in Khyber Chowk. in Bara Bazaar.
Holding banners and posters, they chanted slogans against in government.
Shafiq Afridi said this while addressing the protesters. people we already facing unsustainable inflation and growth in prices of oil products and the tariff for electricity would cause economic damage to them.
MPA added what rising inflation combined with unemployment will do people indulge in crimes.
“Import government increased suffering of in people as you increase in prices of oil products and electricity lead to inflation,” he said.
“We ask government announce date for new elections in country,” former Iqbal Afridi told MNA, adding that PTI will run the country out of the prevailing economic crisis since entry into power.
He said that the current rules least of all cared about helping people. He said that instead of through structural reforms and austerity measures, rulers up prices of oil products. “Under the circumstances people find it hard arrange two meals a day for them children,” he added.
