PTI leads by a wide margin in KP Local Government Surveys – Pakistan

PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s ruling Tehrik-e-Insaf won in highest number of slots for mayor and chairman of city and tehsil councils in 18 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who voted in in second phase of local elections on Thursday.

According to the preliminary summary results published by the Electoral Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on PTI emerged victorious on Friday in 21 tehsil out of 45 results declared by CEP. results for 20 tehsils were expected.

Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl took six places of tehsil councils, Pakistan Muslim League – four Nawaz, Awami National Party and Jamaat-e-Islami won two each. There were six places won independent candidates.

PTI made clean sweep of constituencies in districts of Swat and Malakand, while won most of places in Shangla and Lower Dir districts.

Pakistan People’s Party, Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen, Qaumi Watan Party and Pakistan Rah-e-Haq Party provided security one place each.

The constituencies that participated in the elections are: Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torgar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Kolai Palace, Kohistan, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Lower and Upper Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Kurram, Orakzai and Northern and South Waziristan.

PTI made impressive show in Matchmaker, home city of Chief Minister Mahmud Khan, who took almost all the seats in the tehsil council.

Abdullah Khan, the leader of the minister’s brother was elected chairman of his native Matta tehsil. Decree party wrote it down first election victories in Upper and Lower Chitral regions.

In Upper Chitral, PTI took tehsil Mastuy and Mulchov-Torchov, and in Lower Chitral ruling party candidate Shahzada Amanur Rehman won seat for Chitral city.

Pakistan People’s Party was ready win place Drosh tehsil as his candidate was good in front of its closest rival is from the ruling PTI.

Independent Candidates Succeeded on 10 seats of chairman/mayor of the tehsil council, while the ANP won seven places during first phase in December. Three places were won PML-N, two each from JI and Tehreek-i-Islahat Pakistan and one by PPP.
